ETX Capital is one of the more popular online spread betting and CFDs platforms. Not only does it provide its current clients with a very competitive service and a state-of-the-art trading platform but it also offers very good introductory bonuses to new account holders. ETX also offers a very wide range of markets to trade, including over 50 currency pairs, multiple indices and a comprehensive range of European and US equities and ETFs. They also provide markets on bond and interest rates. Alongside the multiple markets that they provide, ETX Capital are also highly competitive with the spreads that they offer and have some of the lowest in the industry. As one of the largest and most reliable brokers in the industry ETX Capital can afford to offer many markets with spreads as low as 1 pip including the Euro-US dollar pairings and several other currency pairs.
Software
In the first quarter of 2016, ETX Capital have redesigned their entire website with new colours although nothing much seems to have changed on the trading floor. It is still fairly easy and straightforward and now it is possible to open a trial account which wasn’t available in the past.
ETX Capital claims to have one of the worlds leading trading platforms and they really don’t disappoint. Their executive-looking dealing platform perfectly blends the simplicity that spread traders demand to move smoothly between markets with the availability of a powerful range of tools and options. The platform itself is entirely web-based and provides a very straightforward layout which is easy to navigate and allows traders to create personal watch lists and trade using multiple tickets. The charting software provided by ETX Capital has recently been upgraded further to offer excellent and highly interactive charts. These can be viewed for each market on multiple timeframes and there is a good range of indicators, line studies and overlays which can be applied to the charts to aid analysis. Furthermore, these chart are entirely free to account holders, along with the provision of daily market updates, briefings and access to the portfolios and trades of ETX’s in-house traders.
Four platforms to choose from at ETX Capital
ETX Trader – basic platform to help beginners familiarise themselves with spreadbetting/CFDs. Bid-offer spreads are fixed and trades come with an automatic guaranteed stop attached so your account will never go negative. Downside to this basic account are the wider spreads.
ETX Capital Pro – designed for traders with bigger account balances. It offers variable spreads that are based on market prices. More markets to choose from than a basic account and lots of technical analysis tools.
ETX MT4 – suitable for traders who want to automate their trading activities with the use of Expert Advisors (EAs).
ETX Binary – binary options product powered by Markets Pulse. Best to avoid as this is more like gambling than trading.
Support and Education
ETX provide regular educational webinars and seminars from ‘so called’ independent companies on areas such as trading psychology and technical analysis. ETX capital claim that their support is outstanding although our experience with them was quite of average support. Every new account holder is assigned an account executive who is personally responsible for each trader and the company are proud of this fact. Rather than going through a lengthy process trying to contact someone to speak to, each client has the direct contact number for their executive. This is certainly an important aspect of the ETX experience as they are clearly not only focused on providing a glamorous platform but also the substance to keep their clients happy. Trading desk telephone lines are open 24 hours per day and they also provide direct email support and feedback forms.
Downsides
The platform can slow down during times of high market turbolence like NFP day. Also their finance interest charges for rolling positions overnight is higher when compared to others eg. Ayondo.
